Armenia and Azerbaijan on the Crossroad neither Peace nor War: How to
Overcome Stereotypes
This is a project of the Research Center “Region” of Investigative Journalists of Armenia, started
on June 1, 2004. It is planned to undertake a series of research and practical tasks:
- to research propagated stereotypes of images of an enemy and of a partner through monitoring of Armenian
and Azerbaijani mass media;
- to research the extent to which these stereotypes have been disseminated through population of the
two countries by means of a sociological survey in Armenia and Azerbaijan;
- to discuss obtained results at the on-line conference with participation of experts from Armenia,
Azerbaijan and other countries;
- to prepare in Armenia and Azerbaijan two documentary films on the researched topic and present them
to a wide audience in the region; and
- to publish a collection of materials on results of the research, which can raise interest of specialists
working on the Caucasus problem.
Partner of the Region Center in Azerbaijan is Department of Conflict Research and Migration of the
Institute of Peace and Democracy (Baku). Director of the department Arif Yunusov.
